Indian Institute of Technology Ropar

IIT Ropar was established by the Ministry of Education, formally the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, in the year 2008, under the Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 2011. The Act was passed in the Lok Sabha on 24 March 2011 and by the Rajya Sabha on 30 April 2012. The classes for academic session 2008–2009 were held at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. The Institute started functioning from its transit campus in Rupnagar from 1 August 2009.
