Grant MacEwan University, commonly known as MacEwan University, is a public university located in downtown Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Originally established as a community college which was named in honor of Dr. Grant MacEwan, 9th Lieutenant Governor of Alberta in 1971, Grant MacEwan College officially transitioned into a university in 2009 under the Post-Secondary Learning Act.
