Tennessee Technological University (commonly referred to as Tennessee Tech) is a public research university in Cookeville, Tennessee. It was formerly known as Tennessee Polytechnic Institute (TPI), and before that as University of Dixie, the name under which it was founded as a private institution. It is classified among "R2: Doctoral Universities – High research activity".
